In the rapidly evolving landscape of containerization and orchestration, keeping abreast of the latest tools and technologies is crucial for developers and students alike. Recently, GDSC NMIT, in collaboration with Docker Bangalore and Collabnix, organized Kubetools Day at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), a captivating event that brought together industry experts and enthusiasts. Under the able guidance of Faculty Coordinator Mr. MOHAN KUMAR T G and the Head of Information Science & Engineering, Dr. Mohan S Ph.D, the event aimed to provide a platform for learning and networking in the realm of Docker and Kubernetes.

Speakers and Sessions:

The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers who shared their valuable insights and expertise. Being a part of organizer team, I was lucky enough to kick off the day by showcasing k8sgpt.ai on the Killercoda platform, highlighting the intersection of Kubernetes and AI(artificial intelligence).

Savitha Pareek, Senior System Development Engineer at Dell EMC R&D delved into the fascinating world of AI workloads on Kubernetes and Kubeflow, demonstrating the potential of these technologies in enhancing application development and deployment.

Abhinav Dubey, DevRel Engineer at Devtron the stage to enlighten the audience on Devtron’s role in managing containerized applications.

The session provided a deep dive into the tools and strategies employed by Devtron, offering practical knowledge for developers working in containerized environments.

Sangam Biradar, Principal Security Advocate at CloudNativeFolks shared insights into Kube-rs, a Rust client of Kubernetes, showcasing the versatility of programming languages in the Kubernetes ecosystem.

Lavakush Biyani , DevRel Engineer at Ozone Cloud addressed the challenges associated with adopting new technologies and migrating existing systems. His session provided a realistic perspective on the hurdles faced by developers and organizations in embracing cutting-edge technologies.

SHUBHENDU S. shared insights into Why to use Docker Scout and then demonstrated how to kickstart with Docker Scout on Killercoda environment, shedding light on effective monitoring and management practices.

Event Highlights:

The day commenced at 9:45 AM with a warm welcome from the students of GDG Developer Group. The organizing team, including the Head of Department and faculty members, extended their greetings to the attendees. The event was well-attended, drawing around 220 participants eager to explore the intricacies of Kubernetes and Docker. A special mention for Anand Kumar Rai, GDSC Tech Lead & Co-Lead for being a point of contact for all our engagements. I appreciate your hard work and effort in making this happen.

The immersive sessions covered a wide range of topics, from practical demonstrations of AI workloads to discussions on tools like Devtron and Kube-rs. Lunch was arranged, providing a perfect opportunity for networking and informal discussions among the participants.

The event concluded at 4:00 PM. A token of appreciation in the form of multi-purpose bags from NMIT was extended to the speakers, expressing gratitude for their valuable contributions to Kubetools Day.

Conclusion:

Kubetools Day at NMIT emerged as a resounding success, offering a comprehensive exploration of tools and technologies shaping the future of containerization. The collaboration between GDSC NMIT, Docker Bangalore, Collabnix and the enthusiastic participation of attendees made it a day filled with insights, knowledge sharing, and vibrant discussions. The event undoubtedly played a pivotal role in fostering a community of learners and practitioners keen on staying at the forefront of containerization and Kubernetes advancements.
